10 PFAS Settlement Examples in the News

There have been very large settlements for PFAS lawsuits in the past. Here is a list of PFAS lawsuit settlements that we’ve seen in the news.

1. DuPont and Chemours Co. – $671 million settlement for approximately 3,550 personal injury claims related to PFOA contamination from the Washington Works plant in West Virginia. [1]
2. 3M Company – $850 million settlement to resolve lawsuit filed by the State of Minnesota for damage to natural resources and groundwater contamination caused by PFAS. [2]
3. Wolverine World Wide Inc. – $69.5 million settlement to resolve lawsuit filed by the State of Michigan and Plainfield and Algoma Townships for PFAS contamination of drinking water. [3]
4. Tyco Fire Products and Chemguard Inc. – $17.5 million settlement to resolve lawsuit filed by the Town of Peshtigo, Wisconsin, for PFAS contamination of drinking water. [4]
5. 3M Company – $55 million settlement to resolve a lawsuit filed by the West Morgan-East Lawrence Water Authority in Alabama for PFAS contamination of drinking water. [5]
6. DuPont and Chemours Co. – $4 billion settlement to resolve approximately 95 pending lawsuits related to PFAS contamination. [6]
7. 3M Company – $12.5 billion settlement to resolve claims by U.S. public drinking water systems for PFAS contamination. [7]
8. Hoosick Falls, New York – $65.25 million settlement with Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics and Honeywell International for PFOA contamination of drinking water supplies.
9. Decatur, Alabama – $35 million settlement with 3M Company to resolve a lawsuit filed by the West Morgan-East Lawrence Water and Sewer Authority for PFAS contamination of drinking water.
10. Parkersburg, West Virginia – $13.5 million settlement with DuPont to provide water filtration systems and health monitoring for residents affected by PFOA contamination from the Washington Works plant. [10]
